Norah Jones has always had a left-field ear for cover versions and a few weeks ago I caught her Live at Ronnie Scott’s DVD on Sky Arts. It’s a trio show from 2018 with drummer Brian Blade and bassist Christopher Thomas. The bond between them is fantastic — a limitless number of smiles pass as they dig into a great selection of songs with lightly-worn virtuosity. It kicks off with a brilliant cover of Neil Young’s heavily autobiographical song, “Don’t Be Denied”, which I’d assumed was un-coverable (if such a word exists). Catch it if you can…
Your voice has been missed in this house Martin. I hope that you are feeling better.
Thanks, Gregor, and I’m fine, just slightly ambiguous wording… all good wishes for 2021
Lovely to see this and yourself again; hoping for better times next year.
We can all get behind that sentiment! Have a good Christmas…
Martin
Have a good Festive Season if that’s possible here in Tier 4 and to use another “word du jour” of 2020 lets hope you “unmute yourself” in 2021 so we can enjoy your always rewarding view on things that have come your way
Best David
Too kind, David, and all good wishes to you for a tearfour xmas
I second that!
All good wishes to you, Mon
Martin, Thank you for your gift of song / video…you ‘hit the nail on the head’. All best wishes…T
Thanks, Todd, how goes your project?
Looking forward to hearing more from you in the New Year, Martin. Have a Christmas drink on me (stick it on the tab).
Will do!
Happy Christmas, Martin, and thanks for the blogging. See you on the other side! And on a bathetic note, I too have been recently working on a Christmas song (it makes more sense if you’re familiar with H.P. Lovecraft…) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QQfKWUYyeQ&list=PL1TU9ES-7NSMuXmsJjpyUXZnD6jPstBrD&index=1
